Dioxins, CFCs, and PCBs are particularly persistent toxins, which make them very difficult to break down and dispose of. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, chemical treatments for destroying them exist, but they involve dangerous chemicals and operation at very low temperatures, which pushes up the cost, causing the industry to utilize environmentally unfriendly techniques like incineration or bulk storage. The Environmental Remediation industry is in need of a safe, inexpensive, and green chemical solution for breaking down these environmental pollutants.
With SiGNa's free-flowing, non-pyrophoric powders, the toxins are destroyed either in a batch or continuous flow process by removing the halogenated atoms, with no harmful byproducts. By reductively cleaving and binding the halogen atoms—such as bromine, chlorine, iodine, and fluorine—that are present in the dioxins, CFCs and PCBs, SiGNa's treatment compounds break up the toxic chemicals into harmless molecules. The chemically removed halogen is bound to the SiGNa powder, forming table salt (NaCl), enabling safe disposal that minimizes environmental pollution.
Highly loaded, free-flowing stabilized alkali metal powders with reactivity as high as the parent metal.
Highly loaded, atomically dispersed alkali metal powder (includes lithium) wtih more extensive reactivity than the parent metal.
Currently SiGNa is working on the next element in the alkali metal family, Lithium. A number of new discoveries have been made. Read More
