ActiveSand® is introduced to the well in a hydrocarbon slurry and is reacted at the point of fracture. It can be delivered either in advance of the proppant load to extend the fracture or be mixed in with the proppant load to aid in transport. When ActiveSand® reacts, it rapidly releases hydrogen and heat, ultimately converting to an alkali silicate. The silicate that is produced positively alters the quality of flowback water and reduces the need for subsequent water treatment, making water reuse and disposal easier and less costly. ActiveSand® can also be used for gel breaking to enhance gel removal and significantly speed production.
The result is increased production with reduced environmental impact.
